Flare Systems
Now recognised as a world leader, the Sonajet® design was first developed
and patented by Birwelco in the 1970’s to meet the requirements for low
radiation flaring on North Sea installations.
The Sonajet® combines the advantages of high pressure sonic flaring with long life to give you guaranteed ignition under all conditions.
The Sonajet® design solution eradicates the need for annual tip change-outs and associated downtime costs - all of which makes it the most effective on the market.
Moreover its design is extremely flexible and can be tailored to meet all your requirements.
The Sonajet® Principle
A proportion of the high pressure gas is throttled and expanded
to produce a low velocity gas stream, which produces a stable flame.
The low pressure flame ensures a continuous ignition source for
the remaining high pressure gas exiting the tip, even under maximum
flow and blow-down conditions. As a result, flame lift and blow
out are avoided.

Fired Heaters
For over 50 years Birwelco has been a powerful force in the Fired Heater market,
with our design know-how delivering benefits to the petrochemical industry across
the UK, Europe, North America, and the Middle / Far East.
Worldwide we have built over 750 refinery fired heaters, from Ethylene Crackers to Catalytic Refomers and Waste Heat Trains.
Our “High Intensity Heater” technology for Crude and Vacuum Heaters, carefully developed in recent years, is still the premier design choice today, featuring a mixture of design innovations which convey economies over the older design of the horizontal tube heater.

Engineering and Projects
Birwelco Engineering and Projects division is an established Project Management and Engineering Contractor, providing a full range of services to the process industry.
From conceptual design to the execution of major projects, Birwelco has demonstrated a quality driven, innovative and cost effective approach to companies involved in Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Water, Energy and Thermal industries.
Our core strategy at Birwelco is a commitment to add value and provide measurable benefits for our customers through the use of new technology, new skills, modern systems, and innovative ways of working.
The Engineering and Projects division with over 35 years of experience has gained a unique expertise in the process design, detailed engineering, management and construction of plant and industrial facilities. Projects handled have typically a capital value in the range of £150,000 to £20 million. These include not only the construction of new facilities but also the upgrading or extension of existing plants. Technology from a very wide range of sources is used, including in-house, licensed and client know-how.

Spares Service
With over 50 years experience of supplying thermal and process plant to many hundreds of installations worldwide, Birwelco has established a dedicated spares service to provide operators with security of supply.
Our comprehensive replacement and spare parts service is available to clients all over the world for fired heaters, air cooled heat exchangers, vacuum steam condensers, flare systems, process and water treatment plants.
We hold a comprehensive database of drawings, part numbers and job history files at our Halesowen Head Office, which enables our service engineers to quickly identify the correct spare part. Stock parts can usually be dispatched within 24 hours of order confirmation and special fabricated components will be supplied in the shortest possible turnaround.
